Dr. Duparcq is a recognized technology strategist and technology visionary with twenty years of expertise in technology forecasting, marketing, and technology implementation. Working in R&D, product strategy, and technology strategy, he has a track record of “predicting and planning for the next wave” Professor Duparcq’s current activities include technology forecasting, providing application frameworks and strategies for businesses, specifically in digital marketing and global marketing.

Assel Uvaliyeva

Executive Director

Assel Uvaliyeva is an Executive Director at the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business. Assel joined Nazarbayev University in October 2009. She was a member of the team who started working on the development of the University, and was also one of the developers who prepared the first report on the strategic development of Nazarbayev University for the President of the country.

The Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business has trained more than 3,000 small and medium-sized entrepreneurs with the Business Road Map 2020 program under the leadership of Assel from 2011 to the present day. This program provides knowledge and skills to entrepreneurs necessary in business development. The goal is to raise the entrepreneurial potential of the country. Since 2015, Assel is also one of the experts of the research team for the development of the national report GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor), the case of Kazakhstan. This report is aimed at identifying factors that affect business, recommendations for changing situations, as well as monitoring of Kazakhstan’s rating in the global spectrum.

The main activities at the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business are:
-participation in the development and implementation of the strategic objectives of the University within the competence of the School;
-planning the administrative and operational activities of the School;   
-general management of the administrative staff of the School;
-coordination and control of the budgeting process, management and administrative support of projects and activities;
-participation in negotiations and development of agreements with international and local partners.

Currently, combining work, she is studying at part-time Doctor of Business Administration program in Hong Kong.

Subramanian Venkat

Associate Dean for Research

Venkat Subramanian is an Associate Dean and an Associate Professor of Strategy at Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business. Previously, he had faculty appointments at the University of Hong Kong and Vlerick Business School in Belgium. He was also a research fellow in Strategy and International Management at Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, a Research Associate in Strategy and Finance at INSEAD, France, and completed a PhD in Management at the Solvay Business School, Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. He has published in academic and practitioner journals, and in the business press, on topics of strategy and international business, and on competition in emerging markets. He has also advised start-ups in Europe and Asia.

Richard Castleberry

Head of Business Development for Academic Programs for the Nazarbayev University

Richard Castleberry is the Head of Business Development for Academic Programs for the Nazarbayev University. Prior to joining the NUGSB in June 2012, Richard was a Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) faculty member and the Head of the Management unit at their affiliated American University in Kosovo campus for seven years.
