Senior Manager for Admissions

Arailym Magauina is a Senior Manager at Graduate School of Business of Nazarbayev University. Arailym joined Nazarbayev University at 2013 as a PA to Vice-President for Student Affairs, International and government relations. Demonstrating a strong dedication and high responsibility, she moved up the ranks. After one year, she was promoted to Undergraduate Admissions department of the University. She has a bachelor degree in Business Management and MSc in Finance. Part of her job duties involves contacting with applicants on information sessions, group meetings and panels on the road, and addressing their needs and meeting their demands. One of the darkest parts of the Admissions manager’s job is to sheer and utter disappointment of an admission denial. Throughout her work, she developed the appropriate language and techniques for relating to the happiest and angriest of the wide-range of applicants.

Her hobbies include ice-skating and travelling.


Gulmira Koisoimassova

Consultant for Admission

Gulmira Koisoimassova is a specialist for admissions at Nazarbayev University’s Graduate School of Business. She holds MSc degree in Management from the University of York Law and Management School (UK), MA in Foreign Philology from Eurasian National University.  Before Joining the School she worked at Nazarbayev University’s subsidiary University Service Management.

Birzhan Bakumbayev

Full-time MBA Program Manager

Birzhan Bakumbayev is Full-time MBA Program Manager at NUGSB. Prior to joining Graduate School of Business, he worked at the Center for Preparatory Studies at Nazarbayev University as the manager. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Eurasian National University and obtained Master of Arts degree at the Oxford Brooks University in United Kingdom. He also conducted a PhD studies and research for the Defence Studies Department at Kings College London.  He enjoys reading and travelling, and his favored hobby is Latino dance. He likes salsa and bachata.

Saltanat Otasheva

Executive MBA Program Senior Manager

Saltanat Otasheva is Executive MBA Program Senior Manager at NUGSB. Prior to joining Nazarbayev University, she has worked at the Kazkommertsbank JSC and IC Energy in Prague city. Saltanat holds Master of Business Administration degree from the Universty of New York in Prague. Saltanat enjoys reading, singing, swimming and travelling.


Mirat Akshalov

Program Manager

Mirat Akshalov is the MSF program manager at Graduate School of Business, Nazarbayev University. He has several years of work experience at Nazarbayev University including coordinating Executive MBA program and managing student support office at School of Science and Technology. Prior to joining the NUGSB team, worked for VMInnovations.INC for around 6 years in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. He started as an intern during college and worked his way up to be eBay store manager overseeing online sales on different online channels. 
Mirat holds a Masters of Arts in Management degree with Emphasis in International Business and speaks English, Russian, Kazakh and Turkish languages. His hobbies involve cross-country skiing, outdoor activities and piano.

Yerken Turganbayev

Director for Executive Education Programs

Yerken Turganbayev is a Director for Executive Education Programs at the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business. He received a PhD in Economics from the Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen, UK) and a PhD in Mathematics from the Novosibirsk State University (Novosibirsk, Russia). His research interests lie in the application of a mathematical modeling approach to various problems in Regional Economics, Environment Protection and Information Systems. Prior to joining the NUGSB in August 2016, Yerken Turganbayev was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard University and a Director of the Institute of Post-University Training and New Educational Technologies of the East Kazakhstan State Technical University.


Bakyt Ospanova

Executive Education Program Manager

Bakyt Ospanova holds MA in EU and Central Asia Studies, CIFE/IEP; MA in International Relations, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and BA in Oriental Studies, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. Prior joining Graduate School of Business team she was manager at International Cooperation Department of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and instructor of International Relations Department of the same university.


Arailym Kadyrova

Executive Education Program Manager

Arailym Kadyrova is a Manager for Executive EducationPrograms at Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business, in particular for open-enrollment and customized programs. She was awarded the Master of Arts in Economics degree from the Central European University, Budapest (Hungary). She worked as a Senior Coordinator of International Programs and Projects Center at the Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz.



Miras Kussainov

Marketing Manager

Miras Kussainov has been working as a Marketing Manager at the Graduate School of Business of Nazarbayev University since April 2017. He holds a Master's degree in Marketing from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Prior to joining the NUGSB team, he worked at the digital marketing agency - Market Leader and was an entrepreneur.


Xeniya Axt

Marketing Senior Manager

Xeniya Axt is currently a Marketing Senior Manager with Nazarbayev University’s Graduate School of Business. Prior to joining the Business School team, she made her career at JSC “Concern “Tsesna-Astyk”, started working there as a brand manager, then she got promoted to a deputy chief of the marketing department and after that Xeniya became a head of marketing in the company. She also has experience in advising private companies on their marketing and digital strategy. Xeniya graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University with a Specialist degree in Philology (Hons). She also holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and Business (Hons) from University of International Business.



Aliya Kaziyeva

Finance Senior Manager

Aliya Kaziyeva works as a finance manager at the Graduate School of Business at Nazarbayev University. Prior to joining the NUGSB team, Aliya was an auditor at Deloitte for two years. She holds an MBA from University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her hobbies involve swimming and mountain skiing.



Anara Ayaganova

Operations Senior Manager

Anara Ayaganova is an Operations Senior Manager with Nazarbayev University's Graduate School of Business. Prior to joining the School, Anara worked in international organizations (United Nations Development Program Kazakhstan and United Nations Office for Project Support), in  private joint company. Anara also has a public service experience in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She studied MBA in Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, and holds a Specialist degree in the field of international relations  from Eurasian National University, a BA in economics from KazEU.

Aikorkem Nurzhanova

Dean's Assistant

Aikorkem Nurzhanova is a specialist at Nazarbayev University's Graduate School of Business. Prior to joining the School, Aikorkem worked at Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. Representative office in Astana, Department of Government Relations, Astana Office Controller and JOC Executive Secretariat Office. Aikorkem graduated from  Arkalyk State Pedagogical Institute named after Y. Altynsarin with BSc in Foreign Languages: Two Foreign Languages, Diploma with Honors. Aikorkem is an active member of Toastmasters International, a world leader in Public Speaking and Leadership, her hobbies involve crossfit, snowboarding, mountaineering.
