“Demystifying Big Data” course

In the modern business world, companies increasingly rely on data to make decisions. Every day, we produce more than 250.000 GB of data most of which is digital (over 98%). There is a common understanding that data became the new “oil” for the businesses and the whole economy. However, refining this new “oil” (Big Data) poses businesses with challenges. In this context, modern data analytics has assumed its well-deserved position as a key business function.

This two-day training is aimed at demystifying Big Data and at understanding how data can be leveraged for effective decision-making. This program will help you to understand what benefits the Big Data techniques can produce for your company if you can analyze and manage it properly.

We will start with introducing modern data analytics in the age of Big Data, and then proceed with an overview of basic and advanced statistical methods. Throughout the training, we will discuss cutting-edge practical examples such as:

Anatoli

Anatoli Colicev

PhD, Marketing

Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business

Dr. Anatoli Colicev joined the Graduate School of Business at Nazarbayev University as а faculty member in Marketing in August, 2016.  He received his PhD in Decision Sciences from the ESSEC Business School (2016) and also holds Masters Degrees in Advanced Business Research (ESSEC Business School, 2014) and Economic Sciences (University of Cagliari, 2012) and an undergraduate degree in Economics (University of Cagliari, 2010).

Anatoli’s research interests lie in the area of marketing-finance interface, social media marketing, big data analytics and supply chain management. His PhD dissertation entitled “Valuing Social media” investigated the benefit of social media for brands. He taught courses on Statistics, General Mathematics and Quantitative Methods at BSc, PhD and MBA level. He published in international refereed journals (including International Journal of Production Economics, Service Science). Anatoli has been a visiting scholar at Ozyegin University, Turkey, ESSEC Singapore, and Aalto University School of Business.

Anatoli also works with companies helping them optimize their marketing expenditures, improve their data analytics and create state-of-the-art dashboards. Currently Anatoli is involved in academia-practice projects with YouGov Group (Silicon Valley) and Metro Group AG. In Kazakhstan, Anatoli works with Metro Group on the project that involves optimizing marketing expenditures and setting correct pricing strategies in the presence of macroeconomic shocks.
