We invite you to the online seminar "Data Analytics for Research" by Dr. Atanu Rakshit.
Abstract: The talk will be about the role of numerical and textual data analysis in social sciences and humanities research, including, but not limited to economics, finance, education, sociology, business management, operations etc. The speaker will provide a variety of examples where data analysis performs a crucial role in research, discuss the most common tools and methods that are used to do such analysis, and recommend ways of learning and mastering them. This talk will be helpful for university faculty, PhD students and applicants, researchers at all levels, as well as anyone engaged in research that involves numerical and textual data and their analysis.
Language: English with simultaneous translation into Russian.

Dr. Atanu Rakshit
Assistant Professor of Economics, NUGSB
Dr. Atanu Rakshit received his PhD in Economics and M.S. in Applied Economics from Virginia Tech., and his research and teaching interests are in Applied Econometrics, Public Economics, and International Macro-Finance. Professor Rakshit’s current research is focused on differential access to capital among minority led startups, and market reaction to firm’s CSR measures.
Prior to commencing his graduate studies in the U.S., Professor Rakshit worked as a Project Associate on a Central Statistical Organization, Govt. of India project on Natural Resource Accounting in India. He has many years of experience consulting and working with international developmental agencies, academia, sovereign wealth funds and public enterprises.
