Шумайла – доцент кафедры предпринимательства. Она получила степень доктора философии в Кардиффском университете, Великобритания (2005), диплом об окончании университетских курсов по исследовательскому методу в Кардиффском университете (2003), степень магистра в области электронной коммерции в университете Ковентри (2001) и степень бакалавра в области физики и математики в Университете Белуджистана в Пакистане (1997).

Ее международная репутация в области исследований подтверждается 63 публикациями (23 статьи в основном в международных журналах с высоким импакт фактором, 4 отредактированными книгами и 7 главами в работах крупных издателей и 28 международными конференциями).  Она является заместителем редактора отдела управления малым бизнесом, рассматривает заявки на финансирование для совета по экономическим и социальным исследованиям и статьи для ведущих журналов 4* и 3* в своей области. Она также входит в редакционную группу специального выпуска с ERD по контекстуальной встроенности исследований женского предпринимательства (3*) и редактировала четыре антологии исследований по женскому предпринимательству, устойчивому предпринимательству и устойчивости с британским издательским домом Routledge. Ее статус признанного на международном уровне эксперта и совокупное воздействие ее работы дополнительно отражены в общем индексе h-18 (Google). Ее работы получили 3183 упоминаний (Google). 

Исследование Шумайлы устанавливает взаимосвязь между социально-экономической направленностью предпринимательских путей и расширением прав и возможностей находящихся в неблагоприятном положении, например, женщин, иммигрантов, беженцев, молодежи, трансгендеров и инвалидов. Основываясь на институциональной теории, культурных измерениях земного шара и глобальном мониторинге предпринимательства, ее исследование рассматривает факторы, которые могут эффективно решать ряд недостатков, возникающих в результате дискриминации по признаку пола и физических способностей. Ее работа имеет важный компонент взаимодействия и воздействия, который может оказать влияние на политику правительства и НПО. 

Она руководила пятнадцатью кандидатскими диссертациями и более чем 100 магистерскими диссертациями и получала различные исследовательские гранты от финансовых органов Великобритании и ЕС.
