Aims of the seminar
This seminar aims to review the skills and knowledge necessary for educated and scientific analysis of financing needs, as well as funding in the contemporary developmental stage of the Kazakhstan market. It is intended for the professionals wishing to structure their previous experience and relations between the economic entities. Such structure allows attracting and using finance capital effectively and efficiently enhancing the communication and understanding of the needs and risks between these entities.
During the seminar we will introduce for discussion the finance concepts such as cash flows estimation, time value of money, interest and compounding, risk assessment, basics of investing, analysing the duration and costs of loan offers, capital structure, investment analysis, etc.
The seminar is targeted at the audience who implements strategic plans of attracting financing for the business growth and who approves such plans. Normally, such an audience includes entrepreneurs in small business, investors and management in medium enterprises, as well as managers in financial and economics departments of large companies.
Every effort is made during the seminar to lead the discussions and exercises using as popular language and widely comprehensible terminology as possible, given the topics. Therefore, there is no need for advanced financial knowledge before attending the seminar, although basic understanding in either economics, finance or accounting areas is desirable.
Upon completion of the seminar, the participants are expected to enhance knowledge and skills in the following issues:
- identifying the capital needs through financial analysis of the enterprise’s performance, resources and plans;
- search of the optimal capital structure, and the short-term and long-term sources of funding;
- balancing potential gain from capital with the associated financial and operating risks;
- understanding the key goals of creditors and investors when assessing the creditworthiness and attractiveness of a business;
- effective communication with potential creditors and investors by the means of informative business plans.
Davlat Abduvali is a professor of finance in Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business. He has many years of financial management experience in various companies both at the strategic and operating levels. He participated in and managed large consulting projects in raising capital, business valuation, implementation of financial management and planning systems, and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of management and financial reporting systems. Davlat has also provided a significant number of seminars, trainings and master-classes on finance topics for businesses in such industries as banking, oil and gas, construction, trade, manufacturing and service companies. He is PhD in Business and Management, awarded by Alliance Manchester Business School (University of Manchester), and MBA, awarded by Zarb School of Business (Hofstra University), as well as is a fellow (FCCA) awarded by the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.
