MSF International Residency

This summer, MSc in Finance (MSF) students at Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (NUGSB) took part in the International Residency — a core component of the program that combines academic excellence with global exposure.

For three weeks, students were based in London, where they completed the Entrepreneurial Finance course at the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The residency also included exclusive visits to world-renowned financial institutions such as Bloomberg Headquarters and the Bank of England.

Beyond the classroom, students had the chance to experience London’s vibrant culture, travel to Scotland and Ireland, and build lasting friendships with peers from around the world.
Student Reflections
“We took a course in Entrepreneurial Finance and gained valuable insights throughout the program. Beyond classes, we also had an amazing time exploring London and traveling to Scotland and Ireland with our group. Thankful for this unforgettable experience!”

Aruzhan Ilanbay
“On our penultimate day of class, we presented our business projects, including financial plans, in front of the group. My team proposed the idea of smart tokenized loans for students, focused on the Fintech sector.

Professor Juanita Gonzalez-Uribe highly appreciated our work. All the students presented original and impressive ideas. I especially liked the flexible approach to learning, the freedom to express ourselves, and the encouragement to present our ideas. Besides academics, there were also social events like the Summer Fayre and International Café, which created a vibrant community.”

Yelnaz Ramazanova
“The fact that we were able to study and travel at the same time was encouraging for me, because the city chaos, studies, historical learning were all in one.

I liked how I could learn in a fast-paced environment and make friends from other countries and within London itself.”

Miras Satui
“Nazarbayev University gave me the opportunity to pursue my first graduate degree — and it became even more special with the international residency program at LSE and the Entrepreneurial Finance course.

We had the incredible chance to visit Bloomberg’s London office, since NU has a financial data unit with Bloomberg terminals. The residency exposed me to well-known financial firms, and the LSE course offered real-time business experience.”
