NUGSB Featured in BGA`s Business Impact Magazine on Driving Positive Change

We are proud to share that BGA`s Business Impact magazine has featured insights from our Dean, Joep Konings, alongside other global business school leaders, on the role of business education in driving positive societal impact.

At NUGSB, we define impact as generating and disseminating transformative knowledge that prepares leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs to navigate an ever-changing world. As Dean Konings explains:

"We define this transformative knowledge as a kind of scholarship that guides leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, and regional scholars to promote innovation for sustainable economic diversification and to prepare for a world of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity."

One of the key initiatives highlighted in the article is the work of the Nazarbayev University Research Centre for Entrepreneurship (NURCE), which fosters inclusive entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. In 2024, NURCE launched a book featuring 50 Kazakhstani women who overcame cultural and economic barriers to build successful businesses, amplifying their voices and driving systemic change.

Our commitment to impact also extends to our MBA and EMBA students, who tackle social and environmental challenges through applied capstone projects, collaborating with NGOs, startups, and industry leaders. As Dean Konings notes:

"These capstones go beyond academic requirements; they demonstrate how our students can drive positive change by applying business acumen to address issues such as climate resilience, poverty alleviation, and social inclusion."
