Employee turnover has been of great importance to the business world and economists for some time. A vast theoretical and empirical literature has been devoted to understand labour mobility. While employee promotion and turnover have been studied separately, his paper is among the first to examine the relationship between these issues. Jonathan Peterson’s paper also explains what has been an important disconnect between economic theory and business practice.
