A week devoted to Career development was held from 26 October through 30 October 2015 for the Full Time MBA students of the class of 2016 at the Graduate School of Business, Nazarbayev University.
During Career Week 1, representatives from various national and international companies (The Boston Consulting Group, RBS, General Electric, Samruk Kazyna, Samruk Energy, DAMU and Baiterek) took part in panel discussions, presentations and one-to-one interactions to converse with students on activities that could be taken up early in the program to aid them in achieving their career goals by the end of their studies and to develop them as ideal candidates for jobs in the future.
The Boston Consulting Group introduced students to their company by providing historic background information and held a “case surgery” session where students were able to find out more on solving a standard management case and practice their skills and knowledge at an early stage in their studies. A follow on case competition session is planned for early 2016 where students will take on a more serious case challenge following additional coursework, including a course in strategy.
During Career Week 1, dedicated GSB Career Services held several professional development sessions focusing on CareerLeader test, Self Branding, STAR (Situation, Task, Action, and Results), Networking, Resume, Cover Letters and Mock Interviews.
Students truly enjoyed the Career Week 1 and were happy to convey compliments to all involved through verbal and written feedback as well as social media.
