Dear students, faculty and staff,

Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business invites you to Seminar “Outward Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions: Motives, Challenges and Benefits by Gabriel Hawawini, Professor of Finance and former dean of INSEAD (2000-2006).

WHEN: Friday, May 18, 12:30 – 14:00

WHERE: Block C3 (GSB/GSPP Building)

ABSTRACT:  We first discuss why some higher education institutions internationalize aboard by establishing campuses in foreign countries and survey the current data on the number, location, and country of origin of foreign campuses (FC). We then present alternative FC models and their underlying assumptions, and examine the challenges and benefits of implementing alternative FC models with a discussion of actual case studies. We conclude with a description of what we call ‘The Metanational Higher Education Institution’, arguing that is the ultimate model of outward internationalization.
