Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (GSB) invites applications for postdoctoral positions. We aim to support highly promising scholars with specialization in Business Administration, International Economics, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management, Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and related areas to promote the development of young and outstanding academics. Applicants must be a recent Ph.D. degree holder. They may not be employed by another institution during the term of their GSB appointment. The scheme is open to nationals of all countries.

Candidates selected will undertake a research project in an area of Business Administration or related areas in which the GSB conducts research. Candidates will be expected to contribute the equivalent of up to two courses each year in the graduate/undergraduate programs of the School and University.

Information on Nazarbayev University

Nazarbayev University (NU) – located in Astana, Kazakhstan – is a new Western-style, English-language institution, created with the support of other leading university partners around the world. NU’s international partners include six of the top 30 universities in the world, including Duke University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Cambridge University, University College London and National University of Singapore. NU’s Graduate School of Business enrolled its first students in 2013. Our school is structured to be an inspiring ecosystem in which ideas are exchanged and challenged by peers and faculty. Our strategic collaboration with the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in the US helps us develop the capability to deliver superior customer experience and value to our students and corporate clients both in terms of personal development and organizational. We deliver a full-fledged portfolio with a focus on General Management through MBA programs in different formats and for different target groups ( – executives, part-time, and full-time students) as well as a series of more specialized, shorter non-degree programs for executives, entrepreneurs and professionals at different levels. In addition, we provide customized programs designed to meet the specific needs of corporate clients.

Conditions of Employment: The term of appointment is one year, with the expectation of renewal for one further year with good performance. An attractive remuneration package is included. Short-list candidates will be provided upon request.

NUGSB Faculty

The Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (NUGSB) invites applications for faculty positions (all ranks) in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology Management. We seek candidates with high research achievement or potential, and excellent teaching skills. Candidates should have a PhD degree in the relevant field from an accredited institution. We will consider both highly-qualified entry-level candidates and experienced faculty.

NUGSB has a small, but growing research oriented faculty. We have been able to attract faculty who have received their PhDs from Cornell, Stanford, INSEAD, University of Michigan, Purdue, University of Illinois, University of Maryland, Virginia Tech, Washington University at St Louis, ESSEC, Milan, Erasmus Rotterdam, and Solvay Business School, ULB. Faculty members have published in leading journals such as Rand Journal of Economics, Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, Organizational Research Methods, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Finance, American Economic Review, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences, among others.

The Graduate School of Business has a strategic collaboration with Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, which is ranked as one of the best business schools internationally. Duke’s Fuqua School of Business is also actively involved in recruiting and mentoring/supporting NUGSB faculty in teaching and research activities. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for formal interviews that are conducted by Fuqua faculty members on the Duke campus. Positions will remain open until they are filled.
