Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business Earns Five-Year AMBA and BGA Reaccreditation

Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (NUGSB) has earned five-year reaccreditation from AMBA and BGA for its MBA and Executive MBA programmes, following a review by the International Accreditation Advisory Board of AMBA & BGA.

First accredited in 2023, NUGSB retains its standing with two internationally recognized bodies: the Association of MBAs (AMBA), which accredits postgraduate management programmes worldwide, and the Business Graduates Association (BGA), which recognizes schools for responsible management and positive societal impact. AMBA is one of the three accreditations that make up the "Triple Crown" of business-school recognition, alongside AACSB and EQUIS.

AMBA & BGA commended NUGSB for its contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s human capital and its role in supporting the nation-building ambitions of both Nazarbayev University and the country. The School was also recognized as an important bridge between Kazakhstan and the international business education community, enabling students, faculty and wider stakeholders to participate confidently in global academic and professional conversations.

The review also highlighted NUGSB’s ability to consistently attract highly capable and well-qualified MBA students, noting that their academic achievements, professional experience and engagement contribute significantly to the quality of the learning environment across the School’s programmes.

NUGSB's engagement with AMBA & BGA continues over the coming year. In November, NUGSB will serve as a host school for the AMBA & BGA Asia Pacific Deans and Directors Conference in Singapore and will lead a plenary session entitled “Will Business Schools Still Matter? AI and the Future of the MBA.” Dean Konings will co-present the session with Professor Ithai Stern of INSEAD, exploring how AI is reshaping management education and the future role of business schools. In May 2027, NUGSB will also participate in the Global Deans and Directors Conference in Paris, where the School’s five-year AMBA & BGA reaccreditation will be celebrated at the official accreditation ceremony.

The five-year reaccreditation marks another milestone in NUGSB's development as a business school with a strong connection to Kazakhstan and an increasingly international outlook. It follows the release of the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027, in which NUGSB's MBA was the highest-ranked fully English-taught MBA in Central Asia. The School will continue to build on this foundation by strengthening its programmes, faculty and engagement with the business community, while creating opportunities for students and alumni to connect Kazakhstan with the wider global business education community.
